A stay in Kyrenia, from 8th to 15 th May,based in the Hotel Pia Bella.
Very comfortable place,beautiful gardens where it was a pleasure to have breakfast, each morning.
A couple of excursions to BellaPais Monastery in the mountains,famous for the book about it,”Bitter Lemons”, written by Laurence Durrell..
And a day,by Dolmus, to Lefkosa ( Nicosia);unmissable experience.
The local people were very hospitable and we ate in a different restaurant, each night.
Excellent food, very reasonable prices.
There is a definite element of catering for the Brits – ex pat links / armed forces – but this does not detract from the unique atmosphere
Not much accomplished by way of training for my caminho,except for sight seeing which involved a fair amount of walking.
Finally, have two hospital appointments, consecutive days,for an MRI on my back,today at the
Orthopaedic hospital and tomorrow at Good Hope hospital for two Cortisone injections in my shoulder….Ouch!
Then hopefully to resume some kit-carrying walking.
